Argosy was forced to pay $3.3 million in restitution and fines for deceptively marketing its education in counseling psychology program. Parent company EDMC, however, was not required to admit liability.
Argosy was the subject of pending investigations from the U.S. Department of Justice and at least a dozen state prosecutors as of May 2015.
Argosy is struggling to remain in compliance with almost 90 percent of revenues coming from Federal financial aid dollars. Internal documents show that Argosy’s used questionable practices to ensure requirements are met.
